Define The Rewrite Before You Start
Rewriting can mean several different things: restating a passage, restructuring an article, simplifying language, adapting material to another audience, creating multiple controlled variations, or refreshing an old draft. Those jobs are related, but they are not interchangeable. Decide which one you are doing before choosing a method or tool.
Protect The Information That Cannot Drift

Use A Two-Document Review
Keep the source and rewrite visible together for the fidelity pass. Check every factual claim and any sentence whose meaning depends on qualifiers. After that, hide the source and read the rewrite independently for flow, clarity, repetition, and tone. Both views are necessary because a faithful rewrite can still be poor writing, while polished prose can still misrepresent the source.
